Our founding members are all bird dog owners, who understand the challenges and joys of having a bird dog.

Board of Directors

Jim Burris, Founder and Chair

In 2020, Jim was hunting in North Dakota and was finding a lot of success hunting sharp-tailed grouse in some waterfowl production areas that were surrounded and transected with barbed wire fences.

Terry Ann Fernando, Vice Chair

Ten years ago, Terry Ann and her husband got their vizsla, Zara, to be a running partner and companion. They quickly realized how much work and training a high-energy bird dog required.

Robb Moore, Secretary

Robb and his wife, Heather, first fell in love with the idea of bringing a bird dog into their family seven years ago after having to say their successive goodbyes to their much beloved and long-lived (and dog-like) Siamese cats.

Alycia Baird, Treasurer

Originally hailing from the Northern Oregon Coast, Alycia grew up fishing, trapping and hunting big game with her dad and brother.  It wasn’t until she married her husband Mike, and he caught the bird hunting bug that she got into the bird dog scene.

Kata Miller, Member

Kata’s first dog training experience involved training seeing-eye dogs in Budapest, Hungary and over the course of her career she has also worked for groomers and as a veterinary assistant.

Jay Brekke, DVM, Member

Jay is a veterinarian in Castle Rock, Colorado, practicing for the past 9 years. He currently owns 2 veterinary clinics in the Castle Rock community.

Kelly Robinson, Member

Five years ago, at their son’s request to add a dog to the family, Kelly and her husband Jim mutually agreed that if they were going to expand the family, then this newest member had to satisfy a few requirements.
