Nick got into hunting dogs when he was 19 with a Redbone Coonhound named Crocket. He spent a few years chasing his hound through the woods before he realized a desire to try out bird dogs. Shortly after doing some quick research and calling a bunch of breeders, he decided to bring home a started German Shorthair Pointer named Rachel. He was hooked after taking her hunting for the first time! With Rachel being his first bird dog and unsure how to train her, he was frustrated with how difficult it was to find quality or dependable information on how to train her himself. This is when, along with a couple of friends, he decided to start Gun Dog It Yourself (GDIY). He figured if he had these questions and desire to learn that other people would as well. So in August of 2019 the first episode was released and after four years GDIY has become one of the top hunting dog related podcasts being published today. Nick has since added a Small Munsterlander, Lucy, and an English Setter, Quinn, to the stable and spends almost all of his time figuring out how to train, travel, and hunt with his dogs.
When Nick isn’t training or hunting he is spending time on his small farm in middle TN with his wife, Pam, and daughter, Raylan.
